2009 Selected Awards

Health and Safety Achievements

ABB/ExxonMobil Demolition and Remediation Project in the United Kingdom

  • The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) recently presented a Gold Award for Occupational Health and Safety to the ABB/ExxonMobil Demolition and Remediation Project in the United Kingdom. The award recognizes organizations with high levels of performance and well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, while also demonstrating outstanding risk-mitigation efforts and low levels of error, harm, and loss over a number of years.

Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant

  • ExxonMobil Chemical Company's Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant earned the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association Distinguished Safety Award for the Seventh consecutive year.

Baytown Olefins Plant

  • Baytown Olefins Plant (BOP) is proud to have been a part of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) since 1993. Most recently, BOP was awarded the VPP STAR to further highlight the site’s long-standing commitment to exemplary occupational safety and health.

Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant

  • On July 30, the Beaumont Chemical Plant commemorated the site's successful restart following 10 months of hurricane repairs by receiving its eighth Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) STAR award from the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). STAR status is the highest VPP designation awarded by OSHA and indicates a facility has achieved injury rates below its industry national average, and demonstrated that its safety and health management systems are exemplary. STAR participants commit to a process of continuous safety improvements that will lead to an even safer work environment.
  • Beaumont was also recognized with a VPP STAR of Excellence award, recognizing the site as a benchmark for others in safety performance.
  • Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant both achieved a total recordable incident rate of 1.5 or less with no workplace fatalities and earned an Award for Meritorious Safety Performance from the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA).
  • Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant both achieved a 25 percent or greater reduction in total recordable incident rate with no workplace related fatalities and earned a Gold Award from the NPRA.
  • Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant both achieved 1 million man-hours or more without a lost work day case involving days away from work, and earned an Award for Safety Achievement for Hours from the NPRA.
  • Beaumont Chemical Plant worked one or more years without a lost work case, and earned an Award for Safety Achievement for Years from the NPRA.
  • Beaumont Chemical Plant achieved a period of 12 consecutive months without the occurrence of an occupational injury or illness, and earned the National Safety Council’s Perfect Record Award.
  • Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant both demonstrated a total lost workday case incident rate equal or less than 50 percent of the Bureau of Labor Statistics rating, and earned the Occupational Excellence Achievement Award from the National Safety Council.

Chalmette Refinery

  • The Chalmette Refinery received numerous awards from the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association including the Award for Meritorious Safety Performance, Gold Award, Award for Safety Achievement – Hours, andAward for Safety Achievement – Years.

ExxonMobil House in Leatherhead

  • For the seventh year running, ExxonMobil House in Leatherhead received an Order of Distinction from the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents.

ExxonMobil Production Company

  • ExxonMobil Production Company’s U.S. operations earned the Gas Processors Association (GPA) 2009 Company Safety Award and the President’s Award for Safety Improvement.

ExxonMobil Chemical's Kemya joint venture

  • The National Safety Council of the United States recently presented its Perfect Record Award for Occupational Health and Safety to ExxonMobil Chemical's Kemya joint venture in Saudi Arabia. Kemya has received this award in each of the past six years.

ExxonMobil Chemical at Fawley

  • Investors in People, a national standard for the United Kingdom, awarded Fawley the Prestigious Investors in People Award in recognition of the link between the training and development of staff and the achievement of business objectives.

International Marine Transportation Limited

  • International Marine Transportation (IMT) Limited, ExxonMobil’s marine transportation U.K. based affiliate, received the 2009 Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council for the ninth consecutive year. The Sword of Honour recognizes 40 organizations that have implemented safety systems that have received a five star audit rating and are among the best in the world.
  • Both IMT and SeaRiver Maritime achieved the British Safety Council's Five-star rating for 9 and 6 consecutive years respectively.

Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (MBPP)

  • As a testament to MBPP’s outstanding safety and health programs, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) awarded the site the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Among STARs – Star of Excellence award.

SeaRiver Maritime, Inc.

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. received the Jones F. Devlin Award from the Chamber of Shipping of America for operating at least two years without a lost-time injury.

Shawnee Films Plant

  • ExxonMobil Chemical's Shawnee Films Plant was recently named a Star among STARs under the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). It marks the plant's sixth certification under the program since 1985, when it was the first facility in Oklahoma to be recognized.

Wakayama Refinery

  • At the end of 2008, the Wakayama refinery achieved 1.8 million work hours without an employee lost-time incident and received the Longest Employee Incident Free Record in the oil industry from the Japan Industrial Safety Association.

Singapore Chemical Plan

  • ExxonMobil was the top winner in the 2008 Responsible Care Awards presented by the Singapore Chemical Industry Council (SCIC), honored in all six categories including one Excellence Award for Pollution Prevention, three Gold Awards and two Achievement Awards.

Environmental Achievements

ExxonMobil Fairfax, VA Headquarters

  • For the second consecutive year, the Fairfax office building earned an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star award, in recognition of Northern Virginia Facilities' 2008 energy efficiency efforts.

Baytown Complex

  • The Baytown Complex won an Exceptional Merit award in the Energy Efficiency Program – Plant Site category from the American Chemical Council for its Utilities Real Time Optimizer (RTO). This optimizer balances steam and power loads to minimize energy consumption for the complex by satisfying all steam system demands across the three sites.

Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (MBPP)

  • MBPP was honored with the American Chemical Council’s award in the Environmental Impact – Plant Site category for its Natural Gas to Flare Controls project.

SeaRiver Maritime, Inc.

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. received the Environmental Achievement Award from the Chamber of Shipping of America for operating at least two years without an environmental incident.

Fife Ethylene Plant

  • The Fife Ethylene Plant in Scotland received two environmental certifications from the Wildlife Habitat Council in 2009; the Corporate Land for Learning certification for successful site-based environmental education programs and the Wildlife at Work certification for employee involvement.

2008 Selected Awards

  • Exxon Mobil Corporation was awarded the 2008 Malaria Award by the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria in recognition of the corporation’s Africa Health Initiative and its role in the battle against malaria.

  • International Marine Transportation Limited, ExxonMobil’s marine transportation U.K. based affiliate, received the 2008 Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council for the eighth consecutive year. The Sword of Honour recognizes 40 organizations that have implemented safety systems that have received a five star audit rating and are among the best in the world.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Refinery, Baytown Chemical Plant, Baytown Olefins Plant received the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA) Merit Award received by BTRF and BTCP for achieving a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of less than 1.0 with no employee or contractor fatalities.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Refinery received the NPRA Gold Award for improving the site’s employee TRIR by 25 percent from the previous three year average.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Refinery received the NPRA Award for Safety Achievement for Hours for recording 1,926,607 employee hours without a lost workday.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Refinery was recognized by the National Safety Council for achieving a lost workday incident rate less than 50 percent of the Bureau of Labor Statistics rating for North American Industry Classification System.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Chemical Plant received the National Safety Council Perfect Record Award for having twelve or more consecutive months without an occupational injury/illness that resulted in days away from work or death

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Chemical Plant also received the Construction Users Roundtable Owner’s Award for exemplary programs of safety management.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Chemical Plant was awarded the Texas Chemical Council’s (TCC) Distinguished Service Award for improvement in injury and illness rate when compared to the previous three year average, and also for showing compliance with a list of requirements including a proactive substance abuse program.

  • ExxonMobil’s RASA (Refineria Petrolera Acajutla, S.A.) Facility received the National Award for outstanding performance and leadership in safety health and the environment by the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Public Health, and 3M El Salvador.

  • ExxonMobil’s Beaumont Refinery and Chemical Plant received the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Super Star among Stars and the Star among Stars awards respectively. Both facilities were also awarded NPRA’s Meritorious Safety Performance and Safety Achievement awards.

  • ExxonMobil’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant received for the third time the OSHA VPP Star recertification for effective worksite-based safety and health programs.

  • ExxonMobil’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant received the TCC Excellence in Caring for Texas Award in honor of the site’s commitment to its employees and community. One site in each facility size category receives the award.

  • ExxonMobil’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant received also received awards including the TCC Distinguished Safety Service Award; the NPRA Award for Meritorious Safety and Performance, Award for Safety Achievement for Hours, Gold Award; and VPP Star Among Star.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Polyolefins (BRPO) received the NPRA Distinguished Safety Award, the Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) SAFE Award (Serious About Fostering Excellence), and the Construction Users Roundtable Safety Excellence Award in 2008.

  • ExxonMobil’s SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. received its third William M. Benkert Marine Environmental Protection Award from the U.S. Coast Guard to recognize outstanding achievements in marine environmental protection that go beyond mere compliance with industrial and regulatory standards.

  • ExxonMobil’s SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. is the first and only company to successfully achieve renewal status four consecutive periods for the Washington State Department of Ecology’s Exceptional Compliance Program (ECOPRO).

  • ExxonMobil’s SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. received the Jones F. Devlin Award from the Chamber of Shipping of America for operating at least two years without a lost-time injury and the Environmental Achievement Award for operating at least two years without an environmental incident.

  • ExxonMobil’s SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. was recognized by the Port of Long Beach Green Flag Program for voluntary participation in the marine air quality initiative in southern California. SeaRiver has received this recognition each year since its inception in 2006.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant was recognized by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) with its prestigious "Ready for Reuse" designation.

  • ExxonMobil Environmental Services Retail Remediation Station No. 18-G8X in Los Angeles was one of 9 sites out of 16,000 that the City of Los Angeles Sanitation Board of Public Works recognized for outstanding compliance with industrial wastewater pretreatment and discharge standards in 2007.

  • Four of ExxonMobil’s retail remediation sites were chosen among 459 companies out of 1100 to be recognized by the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County for being “good corporate citizens” by consistently complying with all industrial wastewater discharge requirements in 2007. This included: meeting limits for wastewater discharge; being free from any notices of violation; maintaining their environmental equipment; and, fulfilling their permit requirements.

  • ExxonMobil’s Irving, Texas headquarters was recertified in 2008, for its continuous innovative policies regarding the land and local wildlife.

  • ExxonMobil’s Billings Refinery has been Wildlife Habitat Council certified since 2002.

  • ExxonMobil’s Black Canyon Dehydration Facility has been collaborating with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department since 1998 to create and monitor a pond to benefit Colorado River cutthroat trout. In 2008, the facility was recertified for their continuing action to ensure a healthy water supply for the fish and protected habitat for other wildlife, including moose, elk, mule deer, tree swallows, American robins, and Brewer’s blackbirds.

  • ExxonMobil’s Pipeline Company has shown considerable concern for the nesting habitat of migratory birds near the St. Mary’s island operations in Houston, Texas since certification in 2003. ExxonMobil restored a 12-acre for migratory bird habitat.

  • ExxonMobil’s Clinton Research Facility, in New Jersey, was certified as a Corporate Lands for Learning Site. This award recognizes the site’s strong commitment to using site resources for educational purposes for members of the local community.

2007 Selected Awards

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc, ExxonMobil’s marine transportation affiliate in the United States, and International Marine Transportation Limited (IMT), its U.K. based marine affiliate, were again awarded both the Sword of Honour and the Five-Star Award by the British Safety Council for implementing safety systems that are among the best in the world.

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., ExxonMobil’s marine transportation affiliate in the United States, also received multiple other awards including Marine Industry Awards from the Chamber of Shipping of America for the spill-free performance of six of its vessels in 2006 and a Ship Safety Achievement Award in recognition of the S/R Wilmington rescue effort, a Meritorious Public Service Award from the U.S. Coast Guard also in recognition of the S/R Wilmington rescue effort, the Port of Long Beach Green Flag Environmental Achievement Award for 100 percent compliance of all vessels with the voluntary “Green Flag” program in 2007, participation in the Washington State Department of Ecology Exceptional Compliance Program including periodic voluntary onboard audits, and the North American Maritime Ministry Association's Seafarer's Salute Award.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baton Rouge Refinery won a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Energy Star Award for superior energy efficiency as one of the most energy-efficient refineries in the United States.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical (USA) earned eight awards for energy efficiency from the American Chemistry Council (ACC). Award recipients include the Baton Rouge Chemical Plant, Baytown Chemical Plant, and the Beaumont Olefins and Aromatics Plant.

  • ExxonMobil’s Baytown Olefins Plant (USA) was awarded an Energy Award by the Industrial Energy Technology Conference (IETC) for operation of cogeneration facilities.

  • ExxonMobil won a First Place GPA (Gas Processors Association) Company Safety Award based on having the lowest total cases of incident rates in its category.

  • Fuels Marketing (Puerto Rico) received the Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association Distinguished Safety Award.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical’s Beaumont Chemical Plant (USA) received a U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Association (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Among Stars Award.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical’s Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant (USA) received the "Best in Louisiana" SAFE Award from the Louisiana Chemical Association (LCA) for the seventh consecutive year.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (USA) was recognized by the Texas Chemical Council (TCC) for Distinguished Service for Safety Performance for its 2006 recordable incident rate. The Plant also received an Honorable Mention in "Excellence in Caring for Texas" for its environmental efforts to reduce emissions and waste.

  • An Award for Meritorious Safety Performance was presented by the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association (NPRA) to ExxonMobil Chemical’s Beaumont Chemical Plant and Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (USA), and to ExxonMobil R&S’ Beaumont Refinery (USA) for achieving a Total Recordable Incident (TRI) rate of 1.0 or less with no workplace-related fatality of an employee or non-employee during the 2007 calendar year.

  • An Award for Safety Achievement was presented by the NPRA to ExxonMobil Chemical’s Beaumont Chemical Plant and Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (USA) for having worked one or more years without a lost workday case involving days away from work or an employee or workplace-related fatality of an employee or non-employee.

  • A Contractor Award for Meritorious Safety Performance was presented by the NPRA to ExxonMobil Chemical’s Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant (USA) for exemplary safety performance at the Plant, surpassing two years without a recordable injury in 2006.

  • The NPRA presented a Merit Award, Gold Award, Achievement Award, and Distinguished Safety Award Honorable Mention to ExxonMobil R&S’ Baton Rouge Refinery and ExxonMobil Chemical’s Baton Rouge Chemical Plant (USA).

  • ExxonMobil Chemical Limited’s Fife Ethylene Plant (UK) was recognized by the Chemical Industries Association with a Gold Award for attaining a mean lost time accident rate of 0 per 100,000 hours worked in 2004-2006 and a Diamond Award for receiving Safety Awards for 10 consecutive years (1997-2006). The Fife Chamber of Safety also honored the Plant with a UDV Shield in recognition of the Plant’s lowest "Industrial Weighted Accident Rate."

  • Exxon Mobil R&S’ Distribution and Pipelines (UK & Ireland) earned a Five Stars Award from the British Safety Councils for its safety organization, management control systems, emergency control systems, reporting, and workplace implementation.

  • Esso Petroleum Company Ltd (UK) received a Silver Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) for its safety performance and continuous improvement and was recognized as a "Best Newcomer" by the National Irish Safety Organization (NISO).

  • The UK P&D earned the PRESIDENTS Award for Occupational Health and Safety from the Royal Society for Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) and a Five Star Award from the British Safety Council.

  • ExxonMobil Fuels Marketing’s Retail CORS, Ringveien Veiservice Site (Norway) received a SHE Award from the Norwegian Petroleum Industry Association (NOIA) as a result of scoring 100 percent on a SHE assessment/compliance survey, a first ever in the history of the award.

  • ExxonMobil of Colombia’s S&D - Bogota Terminal was given the Cruz Esmeralda Prize by the Colombia Safety Council for its SHE management programs and excellence in 2006.

  • Brazil Terminals (distribution and pipelines) were recognized by Petrobras' Responsible Partnership Program and ranked first among 62 companies involved in fuels marketing and distribution throughout the country.

  • Six Malaysian Distribution Terminals received the Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety and Health Awards for the ninth consecutive year.

  • The Altona Refinery received the Engineering Excellence Award for Industrial Development and Manufacturing from Engineers Australia (Victoria).

  • ExxonMobil and Exxon Neftegas Limited received a “Golden Galaxy Award” from the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry in recognition of demonstrating outstanding performance in quality manufacturing, management, implementation of advanced technologies, efficient use of natural resources, and sustainable development. The award acknowledges ExxonMobil’s long-term outlook and significant investment in Russia’s energy field.

 

2006 Selected Awards

  • SeaRiver Maritime's crew of the S/R WILMINGTON was recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard for providing life-saving assistance to a distressed recreational vessel both before and during the rescue operation in December.

  • In March, the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners awarded special environmental recognition through the Green Flag Incentive Program to six of the Port's largest carriers, including SeaRiver Maritime, for environmentally friendly fleet operations.

  • In December, the Baytown Refinery was recognized by the Construction Users Roundtable as the Best Operating Entity in the United States for its outstanding contractor safety performance in 2005.

  • RASA Refinery in El Salvador was honored with the country's highest Leadership Recognition Award for its outstanding performance in safety by the Ministry of Labor, the Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare, and 3M El Salvador.

  • ExxonMobil was one of three companies together with the American Business Collaboration to receive the Work-Life Innovative Excellence Awards from the Alliance for Work Life Progress (AWLP). The award was received for the development of the 'Powerful Tools for Caregivers Online', a tool to aid caregivers.

  • ExxonMobil was selected as one of the 2006 Top 50 Military Friendly Employers by GI Jobs.

  • ExxonMobil's partnership program with Junior Achievement Hong Kong, "the Sustainable Capacity Building Project," won the Outstanding Partnership Project Award presented by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service which provides over 90 percent of Hong Kong's social welfare services.

  • ExxonMobil's corporate citizenship efforts were nominated for the PR News CSR Awards program. Outcome not yet known.

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., ExxonMobil's U.S. marine transportation affiliate, and International Marine Transportation Limited, its U.K. based marine affiliate, were awarded the 2006 Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council in recognition for implementing safety systems considered among the best in the world.

  • ExxonMobil Hong Kong Limited was awarded the Caring Company logo 2005/2006 in recognition of good corporate citizenship.

  • ExxonMobil was nominated for the Ron Brown Award for Corporate Leadership for its Science Ambassadors program supported by its Volunteer Involvement Program. The Science Ambassador program include more than 600 employee volunteers nationwide, and in Houston, more than 500 Science Ambassadors volunteer in 22 of the area's 56 school districts. In 2005, 8500 volunteers committed 640,000 hours to 4800 organizations that received $8.2 million, with grants awarded in 48 U.S. states. Outcome not yet known.

  • ExxonMobil was nominated for the Council on Foundations' New Critical Impact Award for distributing insecticide-treated mosquito nets during measles vaccination campaigns. Outcome not yet known.

  • GE presented the Return on Environment Award to Campana Refinery in recognition of its efforts to implement projects with significant savings and positive impact on the environment. This is the 3rd time we receive this type of recognition from GE and the Campana Refinery is the only refinery that has received this recognition so many times.

  • ExxonMobil Venezuela's annual 2006 corporate gift book on Venezuelan Indian Art won a prestigious international award, the Theobaldo de Nigris, given by the Confederation of Latin American Graphic Arts Industrialists, as well as a national prize awarded by the Ministry of Culture.

  • ExxonMobil Port Allen Lubricants Plant and the ExxonMobil Process Research Laboratories at the Baton Rouge Complex were named OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Safety Through Accountability and Recognition (STAR) sites.

  • ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant (BRPO) was recognized by the Louisiana Chemical Association with its "Best in Louisiana" SAFE Award for an unprecedented sixth consecutive year.

  • ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge Plastics Plant (BRPP) set an industry record winning the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association Distinguished Safety Award for the fourth consecutive year.

  • Jacobs Engineering awarded JE Merit employees who work at BRPP with the 2006 Jacobs President's HSE Excellence Award for leadership in health, safety, and environmental performance. In addition, BRPP won the Jacobs Client Service Award.

  • The Puerto Rico Manufacturers Association (PRMA) granted Esso Standard Oil Company Puerto Rico with the Distinguished Safety Performance Award for its operations at the San Patricio facility, Cataño Plant and LMM Airport. In addition, the San Patricio facility also received the Meritorious Improvement Award.

  • ExxonMobil Baton Rouge's Rescue Team competed at the Industrial Rescue Training Symposium in Jackson, MS.

  • Three ExxonMobil subsidiary companies in Malaysia were awarded a total of seven Gold Awards between them for the 'Petroleum, Gas, Petrochemical and Allied Sectors' category of the 2005 Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety and Health (MSOSH) Safety Awards competition.

  • Baton Rouge Polyolefins received the 2006 National Petrochemical & Refiners Associations (NPRA) Distinguished Safety Award, for the fifth consecutive year, for its superior level of safety performance. In addition, the Baton Rouge Refinery received an Honorable Mention.

  • The Singapore Aromatics Plant received a 2006 Excellence Award from the Singapore Ministry of Manpower Workplace Safety and Health Awards. In addition, Gold Awards were presented to the Singapore Chemical Plant and Singapore Refinery in Jurong and Pulau Ayer Chawan.

  • Exxon Mobil Corporation received a 2006 award from the Women's Business Enterprise National Council for its world-class supplier diversity program. In recognition for encouraging women's business enterprises as suppliers in the Downstream Business, the corporation was listed as one of 16 of America's Top Corporations for Women's Business Enterprises.

2005 Selected Awards
Health and Safety

  • ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc. received the Patra Nirbhaya Karya Utama Safety Award. This award, from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, recognized the achievement of 20 million work hours without a lost-time incident in our operation in Aceh Province in 2005.

  • ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties’ facility in Port Allen, Louisiana, was awarded “Star” status in 2005 by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Program.

  • ExxonMobil’s complex in Baytown, Texas, received numerous awards from the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, one of which recognized a 25-percent improvement in the total recordable incident rate when compared to the average of the previous three years.

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., has been recognized by the Washington State Department of Ecology for excellence in marine safety and environmental stewardship.

  • Through innovative behavioral road safety training, ExxonMobil Aviation has achieved a 50-percent reduction in the number of driving incidents with its fleet of 1200 airplane-refueling vehicles based at airports around the world. ExxonMobil Aviation won the U.K. Energy Institute’s top award for this groundbreaking initiative in November 2005.

ExxonMobil Chemical Baytown (Texas) Area Projects received the safety excellence award in the owner company category for specific U.S. construction project over 12 months.

  • William Klesse, chairman of the board of the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association, presented the organization’s highest award, the Distinguished Safety Award (DSA), to ExxonMobil's Baton Rouge Polyolefins Plant and Mont Belvieu Plastics Plant.

 Environment

  • The U.K. Institute of Transport Management awarded ExxonMobil Lubes and Specialties the Best OEM-Approved Lubricants 2005. The award was given in recognition of the contribution of the Mobil 1 ESP formula to help prolong the life of emissions reduction systems.

  • The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection presented its Determination of Environmental Benefit award to EMRE in recognition of the innovative ways EMRE has recycled water from its industrial wastewater plant for reuse in site cooling towers. This effort has reduced the site’s annual freshwater consumption by approximately 10 percent—an especially critical benefit during recent drought conditions.

  • The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Minerals Management Services (MMS) selected Exxon Mobil Corporation to receive its 2005 Mineral Revenues Stewardship Award. The award is in recognition of the Corporation’s exceptional performance in reporting oil and gas production and paying royalties for mineral leases on federal and Indian lands.

  • The Chamber of Shipping of America presented SeaRiver Maritime, Inc. and each of its vessels with Environmental Achievement awards commemorating the current fleet’s cumulative 54 years of spill-free performance.

  • International Marine Transportation Limited (IMT), our U.K.-based marine affiliate, was awarded the prestigious 2005 “Sword of Honour” from the British Safety Council for the fifth consecutive year. The Sword of Honour recognizes organizations that have implemented safety systems that are among the best in the world.

  • Energy efficiency projects at ExxonMobil Chemical Company manufacturing sites that are saving in excess of 3.9 trillion BTUs annually earned American Chemistry Council (ACC) awards. The improvements at the company's Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Baytown and Beaumont, Texas; and Edison, New Jersey, chemical plants are yielding energy savings equal to the needs of more than 19,000 households and reductions in carbon dioxide emissions of more than 220,000 tons per year. The awards are part of ACC’s Energy Efficiency Continuous Improvement Program, which has recognized ExxonMobil Chemical for each of the past eight years.

  • ExxonMobil Augusta Refinery & Sarpom Refinery sites received Outstanding Safety Performance from the Associazione Italiana fra Addetti alla Sicurezza (AIAS) for implementation of the "AutoOil 2" project.

  • ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc received the Gold Merit Award 'Construction and Engineering Construction' category from the Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety & Health for outstanding safety performance and safety management systems.

  • Mobil Producing Nigeria received Contribution towards Advancement of Risk Management from the Risk & Insurance Management Society of Nigeria.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical Operations Pte Ltd received Excellence Award from the Ministry of Manpower for operations which have achieved the gold award standard for 3 or more years consecutively

  • SeaRiver Maritime, Inc., ExxonMobil’s marine transportation affiliate in the U.S., and International Marine Transportation Limited, its U.K.-based marine affiliate received 2004 Sword of Honour from the British Safety Council for its proven safety and systems. International Marine Transportation also received a 5 Star Rating (the highest possible) from the British Safety Council. This is the 4th consecutive year that IMT has been given this award.

  • International Marine Transport received the Transport & Distribution Sector Award for Occupational Safety from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents for the 3rd consecutive year.

  • Esso Australia Pty Ltd received the 2004 APPEA Safety Award from the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA).

  • Guido Aerts, Maintenance Mgr of Meerhout Polymers Plant, ExxonMobil Chemical and Petroleum BVBA received the Maintenance Manager of the Year Award from the Belgian Maintenance Association (Bemas).

  • Esso Chile received the Consejo Nacional de Seguridad from the Consejo Nacional de Seguridad (National Safety Council of Chile).

  • Refineria Petrolera A Acajutla, SA DE CV (RASA) received the El Salvador Safety and Occupational Health Award from the El Salvador Government and 3M El Salvador Award. The award was presented by El Salvador's Vice-President, Minister of Labor, and Minister of Health.

  • Esso in Fos sur Mer, France received the The Super Trophy for Company's Performance - Company won from the Groupe d'Études de Sécurité des Industries Pétrolières et Chimiques - Safety Study Group of the Petroleum Industry. French subsidiaries of ExxonMobil won half of the 16 awards given in 2004 on the basis of 2003 results.

  • ExxonMobil Production Germany Employee Hans Giesecke received the Safety Engineering Award from the Employers' Liability Insurance Associations for Quarry and Mining for his invention of a new rescue slide.

  • Port Dickson Refinery and Terminal (Esso Malaysia Berhad) both received the Gold Award from the Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety & Health.

  • Bagan Luar Terminal received the Gold Award from the Malaysian Society of Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety & Health.

  • Kuantan Terminal (ExxonMobil Malaysia Sdn Bhd,) received the Gold Award from the Malaysian Society of Occupational Safety & Health.

  • ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd (Jurong Refinery) received the Certificate of Merit from the Ministry of Manpower for operations that have good safety performance and basic safety management systems.

  • Esso Petroleum Company's Leatherhead office in the UK received the Order of Distinction (Minimum of 15 consecutive gold awards) from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.

  • The Purfleet Lubricants Blending Plant received the President's Award (Minimum of 10 consecutive gold awards) from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents. Purfleet has 13 consecutive awards.

  • ExxonMobil International Ltd received the Gold Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents in recognition of 4 years of a very high standard of health & safety at work.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical in Fareham, UK received the Diamond Safety Award from the Chemical Industries Association. This award is in recognition of at least 10 consecutive years of high safety standards.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical in Fawley, UK received the Diamond Safety Award from the Chemical Industries Association. This award is in recognition of at least 10 consecutive years of high safety standards.

  • Esso Petrolera Argentina, Refining and Supply received the Proof Not Promises, Return on Environment award from the General Electric Infrastructure.

  • Esso Australia Pty Ltd received 2004 APPEA Environment Award for production operations from the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA).

  • ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia received Blue' environmental compliance rating during the 2003 Industry Environmental Compliance Assessment ("PROPER") Program from the Indonesian Ministry of Environment. This is the second consecutive year that EMOI received 'Blue' rating for its environmental compliance program since PROPER was launched in 2002 by the Minister of Environment Decree No. 127 of 2002. 'Blue' rating is awarded to industries that fully comply with all Indonesian environmental laws and regulations.

  • Rotterdam Refinery, Esso Nederland BV received Award for first validated CO2 and NOx Monitoring Protocol from the Dutch State Secretary for Environment.

  • International Marine Transportation received Green Award from the Green Award Foundation (which is Dutch-based) for environmental performance.

  • ExxonMobil CNG received Alternative Fuel Provider Award from the Institute of Transport Management.

  • International Marine Transportation received Gold Level Award in the Foreign Vessel category (highest possible) from the US Coast Guard's William M Benkert Award for environmental performance for environmental excellence.

  • ExxonMobil in the United States received Gulf Guardian Award (Baton Rouge) for reduction of nitrate emissions 4.51 m/lbs/ year in 1999 to 1.47 in 2003.

  • ExxonMobil Chemical company manufacturing sites (Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Baytown and Beaumont, Texas) received American Chemical Council awards for energy efficiency projects.

  • Esso Mobil Foundation received the Heart Without Limits Recognition (Medalla Corazón Sin Límites) in Colombia in the category of Honor to Commitment.

  • ExxonMobil Australia Group of Companies received the Employer of Choice for Women from the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA).

  • Esso Chile received the Most Outstanding Company from the Fundación Nacional de Orquestas Juveniles e Infantiles de Chile ('National Orchestras Foundation for Youth and Children'), chaired by Chile´s first Lady, recognizing Esso Chile's support drugs addiction prevention program.

  • ExxonMobil de Colombia received the Gold Karratza Recognition from the Wayuu community in recognition of activities that contribute to education and quality of life of the Wayuu Community.

  • EM Production Schneiderkrug plant received the Partner of the Fire Brigade from the South Oldenburg Area Fire Departments. This award acknowledges the long-lasting support of the auxiliary fire brigade in the village of Emstek.

  • ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd received the Blood Drive Organiser Champion from the Singapore Red Cross, with a collection of more than 1000 bags of blood in 2004.

  • ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd received the Friend of the Arts Award from the National Arts Council for $100,000 - $299,999 worth of contribution to the arts in cash or kind.

  • Rotterdam Refinery, Esso Nederland BV received the "Fileplan trofee" from the Mayor of the City Rotterdam on behalf of the Rotterdam Council and broader community.

  • ExxonMobil in the UK received the Big Tick from the Businesses in the Community. Awarded for a high standard of excellence in the way we organize and integrate responsible business practices.

  • The ExxonMobil Science Ambassador Program received the Engineering, Science and Technology Council of Houston 2004 Award for Excellence in Education.
